Tonight is the Drama Awards Ceremony. The Boy is presenting one of the awards so he broke out his suit. He looks very handsome.
Of course, it can’t be simple – the ceremony starts at 7PM and I have to be at another school for The Girl’s dance recital rehearsal at 6:30PM. I followed The Girl backstage to wait for her turn to go on – I didn’t have any time to spare. Good thing – while I was there I overheard the teacher and the organizer talking about one of other girls who was running late so they were going to wait for her – No!! I explained that we had to get to another school for 7PM. They were pretty good – they waiting as long as they could and the late kid arrived at the last minute – 20 min late!
The Girl got on, got off and we took off. I was rushing her and she was apologizing. It’s hard explaining to a kid that they didn’t do anything wrong and they are not in trouble while you are yelling at them.
We got there and got to the seats Hubby has saved for us (2nd row!!) just in time for the show to begin. The Boy instructed me to tape everything, but I only did bits here and there – I didn’t bring the monopod for the camera and it there was no way I was going to hold the camera through the entire thing.
The Boy presented his award – very professional. He is a natural on stage. He didn’t win any of the awards – they all went to senior kids who had been doing it for two and three years, this was his first. I was sad as a parent, but he seemed to be ok with it all.
The kids were really cute at the reception. The Girl was following The Boy everywhere and he was introducing her to everyone and piggy-backing her. I think he was using her to get attention, but that is ok, at least they were not fighting!
Hubby suggested we should do something to award the boy – he worked really hard all year and was very dedicated to his drama. We mentioned it to The Boy and he wants a video game. No big surprise there.
