Horrible Mom Moment

On the way home from the Renaissance Festival, The Girl was playing with my ipod and all of a sudden the volume was deafening . We grabbed it form her and lectured her about the volume and what she was doing to her ears – not the first time either.

We checked the volume – sure enough it was at the max. More yelling.

Then we checked the movie she had been watching. Turns out it couldn’t be heard unless the volume was at max and we didn’t hear it until she has stopped watching and started playing a game.

I felt like crap.

Then I remembered how I wouldn’t let he do the hokey rides at the fair because we will be going to Six Flags in a few weeks – I didn’t want to wait in line. Then I said no to her ice cream because we were in line for 5 minutes and it hadn’t moved, and it was along line.

All of a sudden I felt like the worse parent ever.

The next day we took the kids to a huge flea market. The Girl scored big time. She got a lot of extras plus a few apologies for the previous day. I think she still loves me – but she is holding out for the ice cream, must make it there one night this week.
